Over the last decade, horse racing has been on the front line for negative media coverage. Along with this negativity, animal rights activists have made solid attempts to shut down horse racing all over the country. In smaller communities these outcries have completely shut down the sport. What these activists do not understand is when you take live horse racing away from a town, you take away millions of dollars in income.

Towns depend on the money generated from horse racing

Take Evanston, Wyoming and Boise, Idaho for an example. For the last two years Boise has not hosted live horse racing and for the last year Evanston hasn’t either. To non horse racing fans, this doesn’t make a difference but, to anyone associated with live horse racing, this is a detriment to them.
