This season started with the rivalry of James Stewart and Chad Reed being the key story line heading into Anaheim one. But after the third race into the 2010 AMA supercross season both stars were out with injuries. After a crash during the Anaheim two race which left Reed and Stewart out for a long period of time (Reed just returned this past weekend from his wrist injury and Stewart is still out of action.) With the top two stars out early in the season the young guns of Ryan Dungey and Ryan Villopoto stepped up and took the sport by storm to take up the top two spots in the standings.

Rookie Ryan Dungey is Winning

Ryan Dungey a rookie to the 450 cc class this season raced James Stewart hard the first race of the season leading most of the laps until Stewart took over the lead and won the race at Anaheim one. It didn't take long for Dungey to grab his first win as the very next week in Phoenix his beat out rival Villopoto to capture his first ever AMA Supercross 450 win. Dungey has led the points standings all season, and he looks to continue his run at the top of the leader board as the season winds to a close. Coming into last weekends race in Houston Dungey had a 21 point lead, but a stalled bike at the end of the main event and a Villopoto win and a fifth place finish for Dungey costed him nine points in the standings to Villopoto. But Dungey is looking forward to St. Louis and round 14 of the AMA Supercross season and another chance to increase his points lead over Villopoto.
