The Goodwood Revival meeting (not to be confused with the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is an annual hill climb event held at Goodwood in late June) is held every year over three days in September at the historic Goodwood motor circuit in Chichester. The event is a mecca for lovers of classic vintage cars and also those with an interest in vintage dress style.
Historic Racing at Goodwood
The Goodwood motor circuit closed its doors to competitive motor racing in August 1966 after eighteen years, having witnessed debut drives by motor racing legends such as Graham Hill and Mike Hawthorn. Always a challenge for drivers, the circuit claimed its most famous scalp in 1962 when Sir Stirling Moss suffered an accident at St. Mary's corner which would effectively bring down the curtain on his illustrious motor racing career.
The Goodwood Revival is the brainchild of the Earl of March, who manages the Goodwood estate for his father, the Tenth Duke of Richmond. The Goodwood Revival is the manifestation of the Earl's dream to bring competitive racing back to Goodwood by recreating competitive vintage car racing at the circuit.
